This event will have five start times, starting with the wheelchair participants at 8:40 am. They will be followed by wave 1 at 8:45 am, wave 2 at 9:05 am, wave 3 at 9:25 am and wave 4 at 9:45 am.

The race will begin on Fitzwilliam Square Upper.

Yes, the route will remain unchanged. See our route map on our course page.

The course will be open for 7hrs – starting when the last person crosses the start line. After this time, participants will be asked to move to the footpath to allow the roads to reopen again.

Yes, of course. We will have runners, joggers and walkers taking part in our event.

No, you can only start in your allocated waves.

It is marked in miles and every 5km.

No, you are not required to run for a charity to secure a race number.

Yes, we host the National Championships at the Irish Life Dublin Marathon.

It is €110 per entry plus a handling charge of €5.50

No, only AAI-registered runners who wish to enter in April via the Good For Age Standards need a qualifying time. The Results from the Irish Life Dublin Marathon 2022 and 2023  can be used to apply.

Entries will be offered via a lottery system. This system will be open from 9 am on the 3rd of November until Midnight on the 16th of November via our website. There is a fee of €5 per lottery entry; if unsuccessful with it is non refundable. If successful, the lottery entry fee will be redeemable against the entry fee of €110.

Participants have been notified.

We accept the following: Passport ID, Student Photo ID, Driving License or Government Issued Photo ID.

The Irish Life Dublin Marathon is organised by Marathon Events DAC (MEM DAC). Official timing and scoring is by net time and ceases at 4:55pm GMT (7hrs after the last participant is expected to cross the start line), at which time the course is opened to vehicular traffic. By submitting this entry form, you are agreeing to comply with the following terms and conditions, and you certify the information you are providing is complete and correct: • 1. You acknowledge that MEM Ltd does not assume responsibility for your health, safety, security or support before during or after the Marathon. • 2. You are acknowledging that the Marathon is a serious athletic endeavour and that you will have trained adequately to allow you to complete it safely and that you will not start the Marathon against medical advice. • 3. You are physically able to complete the entire 26.2-mile Irish Life Dublin Marathon course in under seven hours (net time). • 4. You will not begin before your assigned start time, cut the course short or attempt to join the course at any point after the start line. • 5. You will not compete in a manner which, in the judgment of the race officials, stewards or members of An Gárda Siochána, interferes with race operations, other participants, or the integrity of the competition. • 6. You will not reproduce or alter your official race number or share images of it on social media prior to the Marathon. • 7. You will not sell or transfer your official race number, timing device, or your right to obtain it to anyone or any organization for any purpose, including a charity auction, lottery, or another fund-raising effort. I acknowledge that to do so will result in my and my transferee’s disqualification from this and future competitions organised by MEM DAC. • 8. You will adhere to the rules of the race and of the IAAF.

You will be asked to accept the following terms and conditions as part of the registration process. 1. Considering that MEM DAC accepts this entry from me, I acknowledge that I enter the Marathon entirely at my own risk. 2. I hereby release MEM DAC from any liability arising from any loss, damage or injury (including fatal injury) suffered by me before, during or after the Marathon. I hereby waive any rights and claims for damages or compensation from MEM Ltd (including its employees, agents, officers, governors, sponsors and volunteers, and their representatives, successors, and assigns) arising from any loss, injury (including fatal injury) suffered by me before during or after the Marathon. This waiver and release are binding on my estate and my heirs. 3. I acknowledge that I am responsible for understanding the risks of running a marathon and determining whether I am fit enough and strong enough to safely run or walk the Marathon. 4. I attest and certify that I am physically fit, injury free and have sufficiently trained to complete the Marathon. I acknowledge that MEM DAC recommends that I undergo a medical check-up with my physician before starting the Marathon to determine if I am at risk from any underlying health issues which a marathon may aggravate. 5. I agree to abide by all rules and guidelines of the Marathon and not to cover, alter, reproduce or transfer my race number or alter or transfer my timing and scoring chip. I acknowledge that to do so will result in my and my transferee’s disqualification from this and future competitions organised by MEM DAC. 6. I accept and acknowledge that the Entry fee is NON-REFUNDABLE, (outside our refund window) and entries are NON-TRANSFERABLE to another event even if the Marathon is postponed, altered, shortened, lengthened or cancelled. I will not sell my race entry or offer it to another person free of charge if I cannot participate. 7. I accept and acknowledge if the Marathon is postponed, altered, shortened, lengthened or cancelled that, MEM DAC has no obligation to me for any costs and expenses that I may incur pertaining to my planned participation, whether for travel, lodging, meals or any otherwise. I accept and acknowledge there are no exceptions to this policy and that I will not ask for an exception to be made for me. 8. I hereby grant full permission to MEM DAC or any of its service providers to use photographs, films or recordings of the Marathon for any legitimate purpose without recourse to me, and I at this moment, release any right I may have to my image while taking part in the Marathon or at the start line or finish area. 9. I understand and acknowledge that this waiver includes any claims, whether caused by negligence, omission, action or inaction of MEM DAC or any of its service providers. 10. I acknowledge that I have been afforded the opportunity to take legal advice before entering the Marathon. If I choose not to do that, I will not later seek to rely on the fact that I did not understand this declaration and waiver. 11. I agree that any legal claim or dispute arising out of or in any way relating to my participation in this event will be governed by Republic Ireland's laws and adjudicated exclusively by and in the Courts of the Republic of Ireland.

Yes, a refund window will be available in 2024

No, we don’t allow entries to be deferred to the following year.

No, you may not sell or give your marathon number to anyone else outside our transfer window in July. You may not transfer your application to the following year or another Marathon Series Event. Selling or attempting to swap race numbers will result in the number being cancelled.

You must be fit and well to run a marathon. Severe exertion during or soon after any kind of fever is extremely dangerous. If you find yourself in this situation you must withdraw - even if this is the first time you are running the event.

You will be assigned a wave start based on your previous time or an estimated time if you are a first-time marathon participant.

Participants will be contacted by email in early September with their wave details.

No you can not move up a wave. You can move down a wave.

Yes, you are allowed to drop down without notifying our team.

Yes, we’ll have pacers running on the day. They will run at a steady effort throughout and aim to finish a few seconds under each time band. To be paced by them during the race, just turn up at the start, look for the runners wearing large balloons, and stand behind the corresponding time. Pacers will be allocated to each wave: Wave 1- 3:00, 3:10, 3:20. Wave 2 – 3:30, 3:40, 3:50. Wave 3 – 4:00, 4:10, 4:20. Wave 4 – 4:30, 4:40, 4:50 & 5:00.

Yes, we’ll have tailwalkers to support our 7hr participants.

They will be available for collection at the Irish Life Dublin Marathon Expo in the Main Hall of the Royal Dublin Society (RDS) on Friday, 25th October, 12-6 pm and Saturday, 26th October 9 am-7 pm. Please note the cut-off time for pack collection will be 6 pm on Saturday.

On the back of your race/bib number please put any important medical information and a contact number in case of emergencies.

We will have 250ml bottles of Ishka water.

It will be served in cups in a variety of flavours.

Yes High5 gels will be supplied at two stations on the route.

Yes but all packs and equipment will be subject to a detailed search and examination at the point of entry to the start zone. Packs for medical reasons will be allowed, subject to inspection.

Only the Clear Plastic bags provided to you at Registration will be allowed into the Baggage Area. All bags will be subject to inspection. Please do not leave valuables in your bag as they can be misplaced/damaged when that bags are moved. MEM DAC will not be responsible for any damage/loss to valuables.

Yes of course. There will be a live tracker on our official app, and we’ll also share the live link closer to the event via our social media channels and website

Yes, but please not that you will be subject to a search at the main entry points. Your race number also needs to be visible.

Yes, Finisherpix will be covering the event. You’ll be able to either purchase your photo package in advance or you can search on their website with your name or bib number 48-72hrs after the event for your pictures.

It is a metal insert for the back of your finishers medal, which will be engraved with your finishing time and posted to you a few weeks after the event.

No, we don’t allow hand bikes. We will be able to accept wheelchairs – subject to approval from our team.

No, non-competitors cannot enter the course or cross the finish line. Failure to comply may lead to disqualification.

It will take place in the Main Hall of the Royal Dublin Society (RDS) on Friday, 25th October, 12-7 pm and Saturday, 26th October, 9 am-6 pm.

You will collect your race pack, which includes your kit bag, number, baggage tag, chip and pins for your number. Do not leave without collecting your race pack. The cut-off time for race pack collection is 6 pm on Saturday 26th October.

Yes, parking is available in the RDS. Charges will apply.

Unlike many races and events entrants to the Irish Life Dublin Marathon are offered a refund opportunity in June. Runners who opt for a this will be refunded 70% of their initial entry fee. A 30% charge is incurred to cover administration of the refund as well as the process of replacing that entrant. Dublin Marathon is a not-for-profit organisation with entry fees and funding for the event management, administration and promotion of the Dublin Marathon and Race Series. The refund window is opened in June to allow for appropriate event management (waves, merchandise orders etc.).

Unlike many races and events, entrants to the Irish Life Dublin Marathon are offered a transfer opportunity in July. A 30% charge is incurred to cover the transfer administration and the process of replacing that entrant. You can nominate the person you wish to receive your entry. The transfer window is opened in July to allow for appropriate event management (waves, merchandise orders etc.).

Following our recent announcement, our option for Non-Binary is now open. If you wish to update your registration, log into your Event Master Account and update your status to "x" using "Manage My Booking" Although athletes can now register as nonbinary for the Irish Life Dublin Marathon, they will be ineligible for prize money as international rules require registration as either male or female. The new policy is the latest step in the Irish Life Dublin Marathon efforts to be more inclusive in our events.
